The hybrid Linux and sci-Fi/fantasy convention Penguicon, which takes place each spring in Detroit, and which a few of us WUUG members attended in its first few years, has turned its volunteer rewards system into a Whuffie economy based on Cory Doctorow's awesome book, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. If you aren't familiar with it, it's kind of a Slashdot-style karma system for a real life economy, and I love the idea.

On that note, is anyone thinking about going this year? Linux-related GoHs and nifty guests include Jono Bacon, Benjamin Mako Hill, Lucy Snyder, Jorge Castro, and Kyle Rankin, Eric S. Raymond, Dr. Peter Salus, and Chris DiBona.
