Howdy y'all!
My name is Marc, I'm from Qc, Canada (I can see many cringe right about now lol, but it's all good ;) ). I was introduced to UNIX roughly 7 yrs ago by one of my coworkers, and tutored into installing a cute little FreeBSD gateway. But alas, I had never really ported to it until now. Altho, through the years I've come to enjoy the concept of BSD, and now I find myself wanting so much more. Even after using my little PII 266mhz BSD box for over 7yrs as a UNIX based gateway, I never really explored all of it's potencial. For the little I know, I'm 100% self taught (except for the initial install), and I find myself needing and wanting to know more about it.
In the past yrs I've tried other distros as well, such as various linux flavors, and OpenBSD (which gave me a rather large and longlasting headache with it's complexity), only to find myself back to exploring FreeBSD's potential. On the flipside of this, I did manage to learn quit a bit about MS OS's, to which I can allow myself to say that my social life didn't deserve to be sacrificed for them.. lol
In the end, I'm glad to have found this community, I hope I won't become a burden to anyone with all my upcoming questions and my leechy behavior to learn as much as I possibly can about BSD in general. Perhaps someday I'll be able to return the favors and help to others as I firmly believe in the OpenSource concepts and ideals. On that note, I'd like to thank everyone now who will be part of my learning experiences. Many many thx in advance.
Marc.
