Feel free to bring your laptop to meetings, that is basically one of the
reasons for holding meetings in the first place.
If you can transfer files to your laptop in any way from the library's
computers, you can simply download the .deb package for Abiword and
install that (someone will be able to show you how to do this during the
next meeting).
Finally, regarding internet connectivity, both St Clair College and
University of Windsor offer free internet access to their students. If
you don't go to either of these, I'm sure there are other places in town
where you can get access to the net (albeit restricted in most cases).
