Ubuntu should speeed things up a bit and the package management is 
pretty neat, IF you have a decent internet connection. I've been dualing 
between Media Center and Ubuntu until I recently started using Mac Os X 
INTEL. If you don't have an internet connection any linux distro you use 
is going to hurt a bit if you can't update.
